Today, I like everyone else was saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Teena Marie. The Ivory Queen of Soul was found dead in her bedroom by her daughter. She had suffered a grand mal stroke a few weeks ago, but currently the cause of death is still unknown. This is truly a great lost to the music world and to society in general.
Personally, I am a big fan of Teena Marie. I love her music. I Need Your Lovin, Square Biz, Lovergirl, Fire and Desire with Rick James were all songs I jammed to when I was growing up and still to this day. My heart and prayers go out to her family as they deal with this lost. As I remember Teena Marie, I encourage you to also listen to her music and remember the emotions that her powerful voice generated for you. One of my favorite songs of her's was her cut of the Rolls Royce song "Wishing on a Star." I have posted it for your enjoyment and in memory of Teena Marie.

I just glad I had the pleasure of seeing her live in concert. 1st time was with Rick James back in the Day and then at Essence Festival plus she was on the same floor of the Hyatt Hotel. True showmanship. Never forget we (my brother and I) was in the elevator with her and her partner and some other guests of the hotel. The guest turn to her and asked if she was famous because she look familiar. Ms. Teena told her that her name was Mary. The guest went oh okay but you remind of someone. She got off at her floor and we continue up to our floor and my brother turned to her and said I know you are Ms. Teena Marie and your show was off the hook last night.
